The vision behind the experience
Wayne Fox, Founder

Fox has more than 30 years experience capturing portraits, as well as in the photo lab industries. Fox co-founded Kiddie Kandids in 1974 in Orem, Utah. He has been recognized throughout the industry as an innovator, especially in the adoption of digital technology. He started offering early digital products as soon as 1994. In 2001, Fox upgraded all of the Kiddie Kandids studios to exclusively digital photography.

Dale Merrill, President

Merrill joined Kiddie Kandids more than two years ago. Previously he served as the chief executive officer for a rapidly growing private equity and real estate development firm. Before that, he was a partner with Arthur Andersen in Sacramento, California and Seattle, Washington. He has led numerous financial and business improvement projects in high-growth, start-up, turnaround and mature corporate environments in a wide variety of industries, including retail, high-tech, telecommunications, manufacturing, distribution, forest products, real estate development, insurance, agribusiness and healthcare. Merrill received his B.S. and master of accountancy degrees from Brigham Young University and is a certified public accountant.

Jeff Eastman, Vice-President Operations

Eastman has more than 14 years experience with Kiddie Kandids. During that time he has worked in various roles including associate, studio manager, district manager, regional manager and director of operations. This diverse background gives him a broad familiarity of the retail portrait studio business. As the vice president of operations his primary focus is on strategic, tactical, and short-term operations management. His experience has enabled him to be instrumental in the design, operation, and improvement of the systems driving high-level productivity while delivering consistent service and quality across the chain.

Brandon Butterfield, Vice-President Marketing

Butterfield has more than 16 years of experience in strategic planning, business leadership, brand development, consumer insights, advertising, new product development, strategic partnerships, retail store design, sighting strategies, and CRM programs. Before joining Kiddie Kandids, he was the senior director of consumer marketing and merchandising at Franklin Covey and served as a key member of their executive management team. He has managed the strategic direction and partnerships with companies such as: American Express, MasterCard International, First Security Bank, AT&T Wireless, Federated Department Stores, Johnson and Johnson, and Radisson. He holds B.S. degrees in marketing and economics from Utah State University and a graduate degree from the University of Utah in integrated marketing and communications as well as a fashion merchandising degree.

Randy Collier, Vice-President Technology

Collier has more than 30 years experience in the photography industry. An accomplished photographer, he earned dual photography degrees and has won numerous national awards for his work. He previously worked for the Eastman Kodak Company. It was during his tenure at Eastman Kodak when his expertise in digital photography was learned. He joined Kiddie Kandids in 1998 and brought new insight and creativity with him. He was given the task of converting the entire company to digital portrait taking. Collier is primarily responsible for technical support, the help desk, telecom, networking, software development, and the Kiddie Kandids photography lab.

Eric Adams, Vice-President Training, Recruiting & Sales

Adams is a fourth-generation photographer who has worked for Kiddie Kandids for more than 15 years. Prior to his current position he served in several positions including photographer, studio manager, regional manager, and director of training. His primary responsibility is to maintain the standard of quality photography and service throughout the company. This standard has been maintained even during stages of rapid expansion. He has overseen the recruiting and training of new photographers and management for more than 90 new Kiddie Kandids’ studios. He is responsible for creating and implementing new styles of photography while establishing and improving sales techniques. He graduated with a B.S. in business from Brigham Young University.
